Tuchel Hails Chelsea Bounce Back Against Porto Following West Brom Embarrassment

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has expressed delight following his side’s 2-0 win over Portuguese side FC Porto in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.

The tactician heaped praises on goal scorers Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell as they take a giant step towards the semifinal of the competition. He stated that he was sure his boys would bounce back from their Premier League loss to West Brom over the weekend after they played most parts of that game with 10 men.

Following their 2-0 win over Porto on Wednesday night, Tuchel admitted that their opponents were a very strong side but the spirit in the Chelsea team was good.

He told BT Sport via GOAL: "It was a tough match against a strong Porto side. There were many moments where we suffered. We accepted it. The circumstances are a bit different in a quarter-final. The spirit was good and it was an excellent result. "I was pretty sure about that [they'd react well after the WBA defeat]. I saw a response immediately in the dressing room and the next day. That wasn't a big concern. We were ready to respond. There will always be setbacks in sports. The biggest challenge is to bounce back.

"We had a lot of excellent results together, then we had a loss together and then a reaction after a loss together. That brings us closer together and increases the trust." Real Madrid earlier took a huge step towards booking a place in the semifinals of the competition after seeing off Liverpool 3-1 in the first leg of their last eight at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium.
