Senate President Lawan Mentions Those Behind Calls For Nigeria’s Breakup

Senate President Ahmad Lawan has accused the elites of being behind calls for Nigeria’s breakup.

According to the lawmaker, ordinary citizens do not share the same view as the elites as they believe that the country should remain as one contrary to calls for secession, 

TheCable reports. Lawan stated this while addressing journalists on Saturday, April 3, in his hometown in Yobe state. 

He said: "But the elites is where the problem is. “The elites will tell you, no, we have to secede. I believe that we should be fair to the multitude of Nigerians – those ordinary people of Nigeria.”

Nigerians must be given fair leadership Senate president noted that the people desire to be led properly and that must be granted. 

He said it is a must for the masses to be given fair leadership. Lawan who believes the unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable added that the people must not be neglected when they complain, The Nation reports.
