Eyitayo Jegede

This is the second time Eyitayo Jegede is contesting in the Ondo state gubernatorial election.

Eyitayo Jegede is the main choice of the People's Democratic People(PDP), who battled politically for the sit of the governor, with the incumbent Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressive Candidates in the state. Eyitayo and Akeredolu were both at it 4 years ago, but Eyi has always become second to him.

Congratulations to Governor Akeredolu has he has won the poll again. He said he was confident about his win and it came to him in a wider margin.

According to INEC results covered by VOICE AIR MEDIA, Akeredolu won with a wide margin of up to 100, 000 votes.

Eyitayo Jegede polled 195, 791 votes against his main rival, Rotimi Akeredolu of the APC who polled 292, 830 votes. It was a great win for APC in the poll and Rotimi will have to retain his sit for the next 4 years and will soon receive a certificate of return from the electoral commissioner (INEC).

However, in my opinion, Eyitayo may have not win the election but he actually needs to do one major thing. He need to acknowledge some people for their loyalty.

If you observe the just concluded election, you would notice that he won actively in some local government area in a landslide. Out of 18 Local Government Areas in the state, he won 3 LGAs and 2 of the LGAs gave him their votes massively and with even a wide margin from the APC votes.

In the result that the Independent National Electoral Commission released shortly after the poll, it shows that the people from the Akure LGAs voted for him with readiness and love unlike the 2016 election where both APC and PDP shared the votes.

Akure is divided into two LGA; Akure South and Akure North. And in 2020 election, he polled over 47000 votes in the south and over 12,000 from the North side of Akure.

Eyitayo Jegede is an indigene of Akure and his people have shown him love by voting for him this time in solidarity.

In conclusion, the votes from the people of Akure may not have been enough to bring him to the sit of the Governor but it would be written in history that his own people didn't neglect him when he was in need and he have to be thankful to them for their solidarity.

Nevertheless, Eyitayo will do better in the future if he can be able to convince the heart of people from other local government areas in the next elections he will be participating in.
