Olajide knocks Governor Fayemi over Heightened Insecurity In Ekiti

By Omotayo Olajide, Ekiti

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state

The Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, have been asked to resign from his position as the Chief Security Officer of the State. This salvo was fired by a renowned Youth advocate in Ekiti State, Mr Olajide Omotayo Harmony today at his residence in Ekiti State.

Olajide said, Fayemi has failed to act as the leader of the State and has left the State in the hands of hoodlums and criminal elements who now perpetrate unchecked in the State.

This call was made following an early hour attack launched against an Ekiti born former-US army veteran and  business tycoon, Major Jide Ijadare. Ijadare, who just returned from US to set up a palm oil factory in Ekiti State was plying  Ijan-Ise road before he was whisked away by kidnappers.

It was also on record that, his security aide and a Corps member attached to his company was killed at gunpoint.

This development  is sad and alien to the State that has been enjoying peaceful coexistence before the present day government. According to Olajide, “ the government of Dr Kayode Fayemi have been indifferent on security issues bothering the State since his assumption office. The State witnessed series of unfortunate events which ordinarily shouldn’t have happened under a visionary leader.

“At first we experienced herdsmen invasion in Orin Ekiti, which claimed the live of an illustrious son of the town. We also experience broad daylight kidnap of a member of his cabinet, who was a former Commissioner for Agriculture, along Isan Ekiti-Iludun Ekiti road. On that same day, a councilor from Ilejemeje local government was killed.”,He narrated.

The Youth advocate further stressed that, for any State to excel in areas of trade and investment, there must be enabling environment, of which security is a pivotal part.

“The kidnap of Ijadare remains a great threat to potential or current business owners and investors in the State. This attack on  innocent citizens is an impetus that drives away those who have good hearts to help the State from the ebb of lack of industries, factories and reputable private agencies. How do I come home to invest with my hard earned resources when I’m not even sure of my safety?”, Olajide asked.

Olajide further emphasized that  Ijadare, an Ex US Major, is a patriotic citizen of Ekiti State who envisioned a working State, describing him as one of the biggest tax payer in the State, with an estimated work force of fifty.” We have to let the world know that the man who was kidnapped is passionate about the development of the State and of course  remains one of the biggest contributor to the development of the State even as a diasporan. I have read good things about him and I can say that he is one of the few who is ready to give back to the society where he comes from.”

Calling on the security operatives to wade into the case of incessant crimes in the State, the youth leader urged the police to rescue the man and ensure the kidnappers are brought to book. “We need our police to rescue the Ijadare from the shackles and den of this wicked souls. We need him alive because he is a shining product of the State.”, Olajide said

However, the Youth advocate tasked Gov Fayemi to wake up to reality, urging him to make the State safe from the  den of criminal elements or resign from his position if he is clueless on how to handle the security challenges of the State.
