Pregnant lady, 4 others killed by thunderstorm

A violent thunderstorm has killed five people and injured seven others in the West African nation of Guinea.

The terrible incident was said to have occurred on Thursday when the victims, who were between age 2 and 17, were taking part in a baptism ceremony, according to a statement released by the ministry of security and civil protection.

The statement added that a 16-year-old pregnant girl was amongst the victims that lost their lives during the terrible incident.

The ministry however failed to provide any update on the incident that occured in the prefecture of Dabola in central Guinea.

It would be recalled that a similar incident occured in July 2019, when six children aged between four and 10 died of thunderstorm that struck them while making tea under a mango tree.

It was an incident that occured in the town of Siguiri, close to the border with Mali, around 7pm, and the lightning struck all the children and they were found lying unconscious on the floor.
