This is according to figures released by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu at the weekly media briefing.

He said eleven local government areas have been affected by COVID-19 pandemic.

The affected councils are;
Akure South (22),
Odigbo (three),
 Owo (three),
Ose (three),
Akure North (two),
Ondo West (five),
 Okitipupa (two),

 Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo (one)
 and Ifedore (one).

Akeredolu said the increasing infection rate called for concern and that worse days are approaching faster than anticipated.

He regretted that measures put in place by his administration were not properly complied with.

The governor said the curfew imposed in the state remained between 7pm and 7am.

He ordered the closure of sports viewing centres until further notice and urged religious leaders to adhere to COVID-19 protocols.

  1. The state government should be more specific on this issue,is locking down viewing center more dangerous than locking down market? Pls Mr Governor sir, kindly make use of the brain that works and not the brain full of palm wine. If you really want to stop this virus I think what you should do is close down market and then maybe religion center can now be included.
