New Osun NUJ chairman emerges amidst assent

.....As Kehinde Ayantunji Emerged

In an election conducted on Monday January 10th, 2020 to elect new executive members for the Osun council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Mr Kehinde Ayantunji has emerged as chairman of the Union.

The new executives to run the affairs of the union for the next three years.

In the peaceful and danceable election, Kehinde Ayantunji of Osun Defender newspaper polled 186 votes to emerged chairman, defeating his only rival , Mr Dele Ajayi of Uniq FM,who polled 62 votes, VAM News reports.

Ayantunji, who had lead the union for over eight months to complete the tenure of his predecessor, Comrade Abiodun Olalere.

Others who emerged winners in the election,
Mr Wasiu Ajadosu of Radio Nigeria polled 136 votes to emerged vice Chairman while his rival from State Information , Oluwatoyin Adeoye had 110 Votes.

Mr Bukola Elufaddejin of Local Government walloped other two contenders, Mr Lateef Agboola and Aboderin Adeyemi of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC).

According to reports, Elufaddejin polled 130, his closet river, Aboderin polled 80 while Lateef had 36.

Some other portfolios who were returned unopposed were Lawal Ademola as Treasurer and Alhaji Abdulrasak Alege Internal Auditor.

The swearing in of the new elected officers was immediately conducted by Barrister Oyesiku Adelu in the presence of National Vice Chairman B zone, Cosmos Oni among others.

Reacting to his victory, Ayantunji promised to raise tempo of Honour and uphold sanctity, just as he vowed to uphold the constitution of the union during his tenure as well as treat all members with fairness and equity.

He further assured members of the union that his leadership would strive assiduously to strengthen career progression and institutionalise professionalism of the profession.
